Dental Startup Tip | Doctor Saddle Chairs

What is a cost-effective, durable, and ergonomic saddle chair for a dental startup?

I researched this for hours after receiving a quote from a large dental distributor for doctor chairs that were over $1000 per chair! I understand the benefits of premium products… most of our office materials, equipment, etc is top-of-the-line - from Ivoclar products to CERECs to our Einstein 3D Printer. But, is a $1000 dental chair worth it? I’d say, probably not.

What to look for...

• Saddle style (ideal ergonomics)

• Adjustable - forward tilt (again, ergonomics)

• Adjustable - height

• Durable

• Economical

• Modifiable

Modifiable? What’re you talking about?? Long story short, we ultimately chose THIS chair from Hammacher Schlemmer. However, instead of installing the caster wheels that it came with… we installed THESE inline wheels from Amazon, so that the chairs rolled super smooth and wouldn’t risk damaging our brand-new office. This combination worked out great for us.

Nothing makes my blood boil more than seeing fellow startup colleagues’ equipment quotes with astronomical chair price points. In all seriousness, this capital could be better spent on other systems, materials, and equipment that truly improve the quality of care and the overall experience our patients receive.
